Artemide Tolomeo Maxi – buy online – the large Tolomeo floor lamp

Large-format, precisely aimable – the Tolomeo Maxi as a statement piece in the room

The Artemide Tolomeo Maxi is the large-format floor lamp of the Tolomeo family: a slender floor pole, long articulated arm, large aluminium shade – all in the familiar Tolomeo language, but on a grand scale. Where the Tolomeo Terra is the classic living room floor lamp, the Maxi makes a more emphatic statement through its proportions. The spring balance mechanism is fully integrated and the shade can be aimed freely. Leuchtenland is an authorized Artemide dealer and advises you on choosing the right Tolomeo floor lamp.

The Tolomeo Maxi at a glance

Tolomeo Maxi as a floor lamp

The Tolomeo Maxi is designed as a floor lamp: a sturdy floor pole carries the two-section articulated arm with the large conical aluminium shade. Thanks to the spring balance mechanism, the arm can be positioned in any direction – forwards, backwards, upwards or downwards – and remains in the chosen position without a screw lock. Ideal for generous living areas, home offices and representative spaces.

Tolomeo Maxi in aluminium

Like the classic Tolomeo, the Maxi features the iconic conical aluminium shade – polished aluminium for the arm and joints, matt anodised aluminium for the shade. The light output is precise and directional, with little scatter – ideal for targeted task or reading light in a large room. The Maxi is the large aluminium floor lamp of the family; anyone looking for a parchment or silk satin shade will be better served by the Tolomeo Mega Terra.

Proportions for large rooms

The Tolomeo Maxi is designed for rooms where a standard floor lamp would look too small. The combination of a long arm and large shade makes the Maxi effective even from a greater distance – as an accent in an open living area, as a light source in a high-ceilinged study, or as a companion to a large seating group.

The Tolomeo mechanism in large format

The spring balance mechanism of the Tolomeo is designed for various shade sizes and weights. In the Maxi variant:

• Long articulated arm – allows a wide reach and flexible positioning in the room
• Large aluminium shade – conical, matt anodised, low-glare direct light
• Full spring balance – the lamp holds every position without a lock
• Slender floor pole – delicate appearance despite large dimensions

Lighting concept with the Tolomeo Maxi

The Tolomeo Maxi is suitable as a primary light source in a large living room or as targeted task lighting in a high-ceilinged office. Combined with a Tolomeo Tavolo on the desk, it creates a consistent lighting concept from a single family. Which model makes sense for which room – we are happy to clarify this by phone, WhatsApp or chat.

Artemide – lighting design from Milan since 1960

Artemide was founded in Milan in 1960 and is one of the most influential lighting manufacturers in Italy. The Tolomeo family was created in 1987 under Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina – alongside the desk lamp, the duo also designed the first floor lamp variants. The Maxi continues this tradition on a grand scale.

Frequently asked questions about the Artemide Tolomeo Maxi

What distinguishes the Tolomeo Maxi from the Tolomeo Terra?

Both are floor lamps with the classic aluminium shade. The Terra is the standard floor lamp of the Tolomeo family; the Maxi is larger in format – longer arm, bigger shade, for rooms that demand more reach and presence. Which variant suits your room better is something we are happy to clarify.

What distinguishes the Tolomeo Maxi from the Tolomeo Mega Terra?

The decisive difference is the shade: the Maxi has the classic aluminium shade (directional light, precise), while the Mega Terra has a large parchment or silk satin shade (diffuse, warmer light). The Maxi is the better choice for targeted task lighting; the Mega Terra for decorative ambient light in the living area.

What ceiling height is the Tolomeo Maxi suitable for?

The Tolomeo Maxi is suitable for normal to large ceiling heights (from approx. 2.5 m). Thanks to its long arm, the lamp is effective even in high-ceilinged rooms. If you are unsure whether the Maxi has the right proportions for your room, please get in touch – with details of your ceiling height and floor space, we can advise you precisely.
