A motion sensor detects movement within its coverage area and automatically switches the connected luminaire or lamp on – and off again after an adjustable time delay. Typical installation locations include house entrances, pathways, driveways, carports and patios. Key selection criteria are the detection angle (120°–360°), range, twilight sensor, follow-up time and ingress protection rating (at least IP44 for outdoor use).
